Fuel Gauge Sender Resistance Levels

Hey guys,

I'm focusing on my fuel tank right now (got a new petcock and such). I was measuring the resistance of my fuel gauge sender and I wanted to know what type of numbers I should be seeing. I searched around and found a post here:

That said it should "sweep from 0-100 ohms," but I am nowhere in that ballpark.

Empty tank, right side up ("out of gas"): 0.106 ohms.
Empty tank, upside down ("full tank"): 0.014 ohms.

Do I need to pull the whole unit out of the tank? I didn't want to because I'd have to get a new gasket and all, but I will to get it working right.

Ill measure the two I have when I get home and see if theyre near your readings.

You shouldn't need a new gasket, it's rubber, I've never needed one.

Take a look, take the cover off, clean it out, it's pretty easy.

What scale is your ohm meter reading in? If you multiply those reading by 1000 they look in the ballpark...

The mere fact you are getting readings is a good sign the thing is working...

Oh! I didn't even think to check the units. It was probably measuring in kiloohms or something. I'll go look at the meter.
