I've been putting a '82 1100 GL back together for the past three years when I have the time. This summer it is finally registered and on the road.. or was. Took it to the beach the other day and it died on me. After trucking it home and doing some electrical troubleshooting I have determined the issue to be the signal generator/ignitor.
First issue is I can't get the bolt holding the governor out. It occurred to me that this bolt may be 'reverse threaded' due to its spinning nature? Probably not but I just wanted to double check with you guys. If not then it is truly stuck. The soft metal of the governor quickly stripped and I am at a loss on how to remove it. Any suggestions?
Second issue is I that I think the ignition system deteriorated over the past couple of weeks in correlation with the engine getting to peak temperatures. The engine gets really hot and most of my issues occurred when it was hottest. I don't want to throw another ignition system in there just for it to fail again. Would a dyna s system be susceptible to these same temperatures?
Thanks,
TH
