    78 GS750 Dead Electrics Help

    Hello all,

I've been trying to help a friend who bought this old ride get it going again. Charged battery, drained fuel, added fresh fuel and cleaned plugs. Had spark and gas, so I thought I would start it.

The problem at the moment is dead electrics - every bit. Got the bike running and went for a (close to home) spin. It ran ok but then 2 cylinders cut out. I parked it for a day, and then nothing. No lights, horn, signal, or even speedo/tach lights. Battery is good, main fuse good, and ground to engine good. I originally thought it was a single bad coil but I don't think that could kill everything. Now I am wondering if it's a a voltage regulator.

Any help would be most appreciated. If I can get this old customized ride rolling, I'd like to spend some hours in the saddle again.

    All the best,
    Carlo

Before you can get back in saddle, you'd got some work to do- overdue/neglected maintenance. If you head to this link, owners manuals and electrical schematics pop up. lots of info

Since it ran and then cut out, your charging system is a prime suspect. Get a multimeter if you don't already.
