    starter upgrade

I think my starter solenoid is shot on my 79 gs425 and don't want to put another used part back in. Anyone had luck with an upgrade?

      Starter or solenoid?
Solenoid, open, sand contacts clean, lightly grease shaft, reassemble.
Or pick up a lawn tractor one at the hardware store, same thing quarter of the price.

Nevermind -- I had recently installed an aftermarket clutch lever that didn't disengage the clutch switch and, hence, no start. I threw the old one back on and it works fine. Might want to continue the thread though for anyone else looking for an upgrade solenoid. Doesn't seem that I need one.
