    1980 GS750E Slow Starting

I bought this Gs 750 to play with, it's been on the road 2 1/2 years and has been well maintained. It's been the previous owners weekend bike, bar hopper, This is what I've noticed.. when you push the start button, the starter seems to crank slowly, most bikes crank pretty quick (ALL), she will fire, then all is good. The last 3 days, its a slow start time, today, starter turned slow, then just the clicks from the solenoid, won't jump from it either. Do you think that the battery it a tad used up? About 3 years from what I'm told. i have a new one in a box that will fit a cb750, and has cross checked to fit this bike as well, should I charge this new one and try it out?. I think the starter should spin quick. She will fire up even with the slow start cycle but it takes a few trys. The carbs are updated makuni with new slides and upsized jets and uni pods, vance and hynes 4 in to 1, she runs strong but is being stuborn today.

Jbird, in case you're not fluent in sarcasm, don't install your brand new battery yet. Check/fix your charging system first.

As far as I know it is all original elctronics, was thinking about aftermarket ignition system, previous owner just knows the bike! My claim to fame is paint and body.
