Still screwed, I'm about to give up.

So I started with a fresh battery, hot off the charger. Was measuring at 13.5 volts after I took it off the charger.

Jerry-can'd some fuel into the tank. It isn't right full, but it's got at least 2/3 of a tank of gas.

Pushed the starter button, and still no go.

It's cranking, but not firing. A few times it started, but it would rev for a second or two, then die. It's like it's got no fuel or bad plugs or carb problems. Why all of a sudden?

WHAT CHANGED DURING THE STATOR CHANGE??

The bike used to start and run just fine, even though the stator wasn't charging the battery. I'm so confused.

Did the regulator go bad and take out the igniter?

God, I hope not. It's a brand new rectifier.

          Then thats unlikely.

Have you tried verifying that it has spark?

          Alternative fuel source ?

No, it's not at my house right now, and I forgot to grab the spark plug socket. They were brand new spark plugs as of April when I took the bike out if storage, but if the coils are shot, then it won't matter if the plugs are good or not.

I guess the next question is: how do I check if the spark plugs are sparking?

Unscrew the plugs, plug them back into the leads, and lay them down on the cylinder head so that the metal part of the sparkplug is in contact with the cylinder head. Switch on ignition, and press starter button.

Each plug should make a nice blue colour spark. If the spark colour is yellow, it means a weak spark, probably caused by low voltage supply to the coils.

Okay, I'll check the plugs today, and I'll check the fuel lines and the petcock. Maybe it's just not getting fuel out of the tank properly.

                      Not sparking!!!

Gonna try new plugs. If that doesn't work, what's next?
