    1988 gs450 DYNA S conv.

I tried searching for this, but for some reason I keep getting errors with the search function..

Does anyone have any info on this? Most of the stuff I read seems like it is for the 4cyl motors. I have not seen much for a 2cyl motor.

If it is possible for the 2cyl. motors does anyone have a link to what CDI / coils I would need for my bike? And how hard is the swap for it?

One catch with an '88 GS450... you have electronic advance.

The Dynatek DS3-3C is designed for the earlier 450's that have a mechanical advance unit, so there is no advance built into these.

You could retrofit the advance mechanism from an earlier 450, but I think you'd be better off getting a GS500 ignition setup.

The 450 coils should work with the 500's ignitor so you should just need the signal generator and ignitor from pretty much any GS500 as far as I'm aware...

I think the very new models are a bit different and only have one pickup but if you're buying on eBay the pic's should highlight this.

I personally haven't seen one myself...

Would this unit work on an 81 450L without any serious changes?

Does your bike have a mechanical advance? There is a manual over at Bass Cliffs website. Make sure your bike looks like the picture below. There are two plates that rotate out as the motor spins operating again as the small springs. That is mechanical advance. On more modern bikes there is a small chip in the ignitor that performs that function electronically.

The only manual is a Clymer that I see and this is the page that shows a mechanical advance. So the Dyna-s as Pete described should work. Contact Dynatech they can help.

Yes it *should* but you need to confirm as per Jim's post.

You will need the spacer they provide with some of their other kits though as the Dynatek rotor is shorter than the stock rotor... speak to Dynatek, they will know what you're talking about
