Is the igniter under the air box?

It's on a plate mounted under air filter box along with r/r. No fun to remove this plate! Easy method is to remove battery, go in from there and find the two bolts that hold this plate on- they will be facing you. Remove them,Then you can swing up the plate assembly and attack the ignitor screws.

I checked continuity with wires and believe there is no issue. What's the cheapest and best replacement for the factory CDI?

It's actually not a CDI. Dyna makes a replacement ignition system - replaces factory ignitor and the signal coils, unit mounts on signal plate.Around $100 . Where on this planet are you located?

Talk to Z1 enterprises in New York . I think this is the unit but wait for some else to confirm as I don't know!
