    replacing ground wires, help

    Suzuki 1986 GS450LG

found that my signal lights were just on, dim and would not flash, I ran a temporay ground from the

battery to one of them and it brightened up and flashed. I replaced all the grounds to the lights with

wires to a grounding block near the battery and from there to the battery negative post. Left

the old ground wires to the signal lights in place .

I was also having problems with my starter relay, replaced that ground with a heavier one directly to the battery and works much better

this brings me to the following questions

    1) should I replace or paralell new grounds whereever I can

    2) will it cause any problems if I run new grounds from the coils directly to the grounding block

    3) can I have too many grounds from differnt parts of the frame instrument panel etc. to the grounding block

    I am using a 16 guage wire

    thks

Replacing grounds is a bit drastic. I would focus on cleaning all the connectors and plugs, systematically. You can't have too many but neither do you want to be riding a spaghetti bike. Check out Basscliffs site for ideas on harness cleaning and just get stuck in from one end to the other. It will pay off.

Your coils should not be grounded.
