    set the points

    I don't known how to advance or retard my timing points any help would be helpful.

    It's in your factory service manual, which you can likely download from here: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

    It would be a good idea to put which bike you have in your signature so that you don't have to remember to specify it in every post.

      The 1982 gs450 right? Timing is preset- it's electronic, so very little adjustment.
      No spark? Go here and do some reading.....

        I think it might be the pick up pulser coil points, I have great spark and that is the only thing I removed when I did the clutch aside from the case! I turned the plate a little bit and now it backfires through the air box. Is there something I missed?

          So you removed signal generator plate.... There's not much adjustment area- plus/minus 5 degrees maybe on mine.try turning it clockwise. I lost pic of your style signal plate- can you post yours showing timing marks?
