    78 1000,the signal relay buzzes when the ignition's on.

    Need to figure out the last (I hope) electrical problem with my 78 1000 project."New" wiring harness,control pods and brand new K&S turn signals.Did check the signal controller with my ohm meter and everything seems to be in order.The blue feed wire checked out to. Disconnected the instrument pod to see if that was the problem,still buzzed.I know I must be missing something.

    If you put in an LED flasher, then you have to disconnect the TSCU else that Flasher relay will buzz. There have been a few threads lately. The blue wire to the flasher needs to be grounded in order for the flasher to operate. If it is pulled high I think the flasher can buss as you are experiencing.

    There are two types of TSCU's so this may not be correct.

      Just the buzzer activates?
      GS100C correct? (only the EC uses a controller)
      Stock wiring and left hand control, correct?

        No buzzer on the bike Dale.If I have the turn signal relay plugged in it buzzes.Yes a 1000"C" with a stock electrical system with just a 2 prong relay.Left side pod is actually from a 78 400 but it's exactly the same wiring and set up as the 1000.

          The 'C' models used a beeper in addition to the stock turn signal flasher. The controller was used on the 'EC'.

          So the relay (flasher) is what's buzzing?

          Happens when the ignition is on or off? Signals actuated or not? Signal lamps light up or not? Have you tried a jumper wire in place of the T/S flasher?

            Yes the flasher buzzes with the ignition on.Turn signal actuation changes nothing and the lights don't light up.Hadn't thought of a jumper wire but it doesn't seem like that good an idea.Have 2 extra leads,a grey(very light blue?) and a black up in the tank area.Seem like an odd place for a beeper as there's no mounting place

              There's a little tab with a hole in it on the top cross member. That's where the turn signal beeper mounts, so those are probably the correct wires

                      Greg, If the ignition switch is on and the turn signal switch is in the center (off) position, no current can flow unless a wire after the flasher is grounded. The turns signal switch cannot be causing the rapid flasher actuation as it has no connection to ground, unless shorted -only the actual turn signals do.

                      The indicator lamp in the cluster is connected between the right and left signal lamps so that when one side is actuated, the left side for instance, power is applied to the indicator lamp and because of the low resistance in the actual turn signals themselves, the right side in this case, the lamp lights. The right side signals, provides the indicator lamp with a low resistance path to ground. The reason the right side signals will not light up when the indicator lamp is on, is because there is not enough current flow through that small lamp to cause them to light up.

                      You still could have a bad flasher, but you need to find out why current is flowing through it when it should not be.

                      Pinched wire in the left hand switch possibly? Open up the wiring diagram and get cracking.

                        Hmmmmm......I disconnected the left pod at the connector and turned the ignition on,no buzzing.Was just in it to be see why the horn didn't work and to check why the flasher was buzzing.I took the pod off and opened it up again.Both me and Kelly can't see any pinched wires.I checked the light blue wire with the ohm meter from the flasher to the connector as well,it showed good continuity as do both the black and light green wires.I just can't see any reason it should be happening.I have 3 flasher units including a known good one and all three buzz.

                          OK I made an assembly mistake,put the selector switch in the wrong space in the podGot it in the right way and hoped it would stop buzzing.Not a chanceBut now I can get a flash when I flip the switch then back to buzzing.As Dale says it's shorting out somewhere,I just can't tell where.I HATE electrics

                            After a lot of head scratching,cursing and other things I finally found what was grounding out the signal switch.It was the ball and spring inside the slider switch.Stuffed a small piece of electrical tape in the spring well and got the nice ticka ticka ticka sound and corresponding flashing of lights
