    Tachometer Reading High

    Wasn't sure where to put this but as the tachometer is not cable run I assume it falls into the electrical department. It has happened three times now and hasn't gone away this time. It reads about 2000 high at idle and no idea at higher revs but it's at redline pretty quick. Any ideas on where to attack the problem ? Bike is a 1988 GSX 1100F Katana........
    Thanks

    Sounds like the problem is internal to the tach.

      I would guess that electrolytic caps (as stated inside the tach) might be breaking down.

        Thanks guys I was thinking somewhere else. { no idea why } But I just happened to have a set of instruments from a low miler I got quite some time ago cheap on ebay. I'm old and I still think in mph anyway so that's no big deal. I've been meaning to replace the clock battery anyway and the fairing is going to be off for its up coming paint job. { if I can find the damn decals ! }
