I didn't look at what was for download.. but the directions I received with the dyna system seemed accurate and served me just fine in my installation (aside from modifying the plate to fit around the oil unit). I obviously wired mine a little differently, I bypassed the wiring harness and soldered the wires from the signal generator straight to the coils. But I see no reason that it shouldn't working wiring it the way you did, if my understanding is correct.

So the heat sink compound was between the signal coil magnet and the metal plate? (the guys at napa and oreily's and what not only know whatever shows up on their computer screens )

Oh, and yes, please scan and post the directions you still have so i can compare them to what dyna has available for download. It appears they have outdated documents for downloading

Hey, I know this post is quite a few years old but im in the same boat currently, trying to find a dyna s to replace my current signal generator. Emailed back and forth with a support tech at Dynatek and they told me they dont make one that will work for an 83 GS650gl...I checked out the DS3-2 you talk about in this post and im really hopping that it would work for my 650gl. Any thoughts?

You have to grind the ignition plate to clear the oil pressure sensor. Other than that, it will work fine. There are various threads here in the archives other than this one that will confirm that.

You probably already know this, but the DS3-2 is compatible. Dyna tek says it’s not, because the oil pressure signs is in the way.

get A dremel, cut out a crescent, make sure you don’t knick the wires and it will work
