Stator/ignitor/cdi test
Can someone give me a link for a stator, cdi box, and ignitor test? 1980 gs 850 l no spark at all, I don't have a manual. I originally had no spark, did a bunch of tests and then had spark. I thought it was a bad connection but I went through it again and still no spark. ThanksTags: None

Signal generators rarely fail. If one side did you would still have spark on the other.Ed
To measure is to know.

ok here's where im at.... Kill switch is good, battery is good, I don't have a kick stand switch, fuses are all good. Generator has voltage coming out but that shouldn't affe spark if I have a good battery, correct me if I'm wrong. Ignitor has power to it, pick up coil has 321.3 ohms but idk if that is with in range. Like I said when I had spark bike ran great, parked it and next time I tried to start it I had no spark again. I got link to work by the way

Signal generator has 2 wires one green one blue. When cranking I shouldn't have any kind of voltage on those right? The voltage is supplied to the ignitor and the signal generator is just a magnetic field that collapses when the rotor passes the sensor correct?

I have measured the wave forms on my 83 gs1100e and recall the DC resistance was a few 100's of ohms. Also the pulse is a dublet going one direction and then other. At cranking speeds it is o-5v range but increases with rpm. Given your 5 position accuracy resistance measurment I would look elsewhere like the link provided. My iPhone opened it up.Originally posted by Tim View PostSure thing I'll just whip out my oscilloscope haha. Thanks for the help
