    Grounding to the battery

I recently completed the coil relay mod and in doing so, grounded the relay directly to the negative terminal on the battery. This was simply a matter of convenience; the relay was installed under the seat near the fuse block and the battery was a short 6" wire away. Are there any potential problems grounding this way as compared to grounding directly to the frame or another grounding spot?

    Cheers!

    Potential problems............. Nice one.
How is your r/r wired up? If you are in the single point ground camp you now have a current returning to the battery negative rather than the system low point, the r/r negative, where it belongs.
The world isn't going to stop turning.

Yes r/r is more important with respect to grounding. Ground path for relay probably will not matter as long as it is not 12v.ore important the relay is mechanically isolated.

I replaced my R/R with a SH775 last year and, sitting at my desk at work, can't recall exactly where I grounded it. It was definitely to a ground point in the frame so I'll revise my wiring tonight to ground the relay to the same spot.

        Cheers!
