What gauge wire for battery ground?

What is the gauge of the ground wire for the battery? I tried searching the forum but could not find the answer. I bought some 6 gauge, but it looks thicker than the current ground wire.

Just make sure it is of sufficient flexibility - ie, many stranded, as vibration-proofness is lent by lots of strands, generally. I've seen bikes wired with domestic wiring with just two, three or four strands in them. No surprise they had bad faults within the conductors.
