    82 gs750e - Oil inside stator cover??

    should motor oil be present inside stator cover??

    Yes, as long as you do mean the left side while sitting on the bike, and aren't confused with the points cover on the right.

      Yes.
      THink of it as an oil cooled stator.
      Which is the same thing as the stator heating the oil.

        Yes. Apart from the gasket the two escape routes to watch are the o-ring seal at the business end of the starter motor and the grommet on the three phase wires heading out to the rectifier.
        Check the lengths of the case screws going back at each location. They are slightly different lengths which can lead to one bottoming out and not squeezing the gasket. The ones differing by 5mm are the ones to watch. Bear in mind a PO may have substituted them and even cut to some new length.
