    Digital Gauges

I'm thinking of swapping my gauges to digital. I think I've got most of it figured out (hall sensor on the fork for speedo, ignition coil for tach), but what about the old drives? What are the recommended ways to remove/seal/whatever the old speedo drive on the fork, and the tach drive in the head? Replace the cable with a cap and leave the gear in place?

For the tach drive in the engine, either replace it with an OEM solid aluminum plug (made for GS years with electronic tachs, they are plentiful) or take your existing one, remove the gear and seal, and fill it with JB Weld. (This is what I did.)

For the speedo, remove the gear that connects to the cable and fit some kind of cap over the threads.

I wonder if tach and speedo cable thread sizes are standardized amongst the Japanese brands?
