Wiring Diagram Help

Never used an M-Unit but here's my input
1. Bl/Wh is ground from the headlight
2. Not sure - did the "Fleekz module" come with any instructions?
3. Orange wire gets grounded
4. I would put igntion switch/key before the M-Unit after the fuse and R/R connection to that wire
5. Not sure what that is (wait for more knowledgeable person)

I'm working on my GS450 wiring diagram too a couple threads below yours.

The one other comment I have is that your diagram is missing a kill switch. Sounds like you're doing a custom thing so even if you didn't want one it might be useful for doing plug chops if you're messing with the intake/exhaust.
The M-Units are cool! I always wanted one but could never bring myself to spend the extra $$ - do you have any pictures of your bike/handlebar set up.

2) the fleekz module did come with instructions but they just have the color of the wire and then a small description. The orange one says "running light"... on the input side

4) I'll redraw the diagram and repost.

With my repost of the diagram I'll include some pics of the handlebars and the bike (which currently isn't too impressive...)

I have an extra button on the handlebar switches but not sure how I would make that a kill switch...

Are you also using the motogadet mini button switches or some other type?

I had to go to radiantz.com to see what some of those gadgets are, in order to MAYBE give you a better clue.

1) Where does the third wire from the headlight go? (its the one marked Bl / W)
That is the ground wire. It should connect to a chassis ground, and eventually back to the battery negative terminal

2) The orange wire coming from the "Fleekz Module" by Radiantz, which is for the running light portion of the new tail light, I believe needs to be connected to power but I don't know where.
This is where I had to go to radiantz. Never heard of a "Fleekz Module", had to see what it does. Apparently it give you a dual-intensity function out of LEDs that are designed as single-intensity. Since that is for "running lights" and probably at the rear of the bike, think of it as "tail light". Just the normal tail light, not the bright brake light.

3) Same problem as 2) but for the Horn this time.
In a normal GS wiring scheme, there is switched (by the key) power applied to one terminal on the horn. The other terminal goes to the switch on the handlebar, which then connects to ground, completing the circuit. If your horn wire puts power OUT, then you need to have a full-time ground on the horn. If your horn wire is a GROUND, you need to have full-time power to the horn.

4) Where does my key fit into this diagram?
I can't believe that they would not suggest where to switch the power. I have never installed an M-unit, so can not speak from experience, but I have seen one installed. The owner said it was about the only thing that would work for what he was trying to do, but would think seriously about doing it again. He would rather work around the issues, rather than install another M-unit. I know that does not address your question about where to put the key, but really, can it be all that difficult? Put the key so it controls power to the M-unit.

5) Do I need to use a dual element circuit with the Fleekz Module?
I don't know the details on how each of those modules works, but they sort of do the same thing. The dual-element circuit provides dual-intensity function to a single strip/group of LEDs. The Fleeks module has more of a logic circuit to co-ordinate a group of three, so the center one is tail/brake and the two outers are tail/turn. Do you need both? Do you have enough lights to need both? Only a full-dresser will have enough real estate on the back to support that many lights, so you probably do not need both. Which one? What light(s) will you have on the back of the bike?

5) I am putting this LED lightstrip on the tail: https://www.radiantz.com/Turns-and-B.../470x-xxxx.htm From what you said it really doesnt sound like I need both. Going to give it a shot without both and see if it works.

The stock haress has a brown wire that goes from the ignition switch to the tail light. If you are still using a stock key and also have the gray wire connected from the LIGHTS fuse to the ignition switch, that brown wire will work. Otherwise, if there is an output on the M-unit, use that. If not, any fused wire that goes on and off with the key. You have not said specifically whether you are using the stock harness or are making a new one from scratch, so I can only guess.

3) How would I determine which it would be? I have the OEM horn I believe.
You still have an OEM harness? Or one that you made yourself? If it's an OEM harness, it's likely still a hot wire that feeds them, but you can verify by using a test light or a meter. Connect it to the wire that connects to the horn, turn the key ON. If the light comes on with the key, you have a "switched ground" horn system. This also depends on the operation of the M-unit. How does IT trigger the horn? It might put out a HIGH signal, which would likely need to feed a relay to power the horns. You sure this stuff is not in the M-unit manual?

From the catalog description of that light:

The premade Z-Flex Turns and Brakes are shipped with a dual-circuit element to make the center light work as a running and brake light and the turn signals to work like stock lights.

Can't get much clearer than that, it's all built-in and you don't need either one.

By the way, you might want to check with the local authorities (if you care) to see if that can be used as your only light. There is usually no problem using accessory lights as add-ons, but you really need to have DOT-approved lights for your main lights. If California has any kind of inspection program that checks the lights, you may not pass.
