Instrument cluster modification ''check panel control unit''

    Hello,
has any one removed the stock instrument cluster and replaced with either aftermarket or custom build cluster. Specifically I am interested in the ''check panel control unit'' indicating unit inside the stock cluster. This would be the pcb with lights for head/brake/s.s./ oil. Is it possible to remove this and still have a functioning bike? I would like to keep the lighting, is there any modern replacements in a smaller form factor?

Lots of such units available. I installed a Koso on my 1150 and, with a few hiccups aside, have been very happy with it. It has speedo, tach, fuel gauge, oil temp, trip meters, all the idiot lights, turn signals, and a clock, to name a few.

Most of the checks are diagnostics and not required for operation.
