Wiring harness - Extra Ground?

Hey guys, I just got through routing my cleaned up wiring harness and was making sure all my wires were accounted for. I have a ground wire I'm unsure where it goes. I had it separate from the harness in a bag for frame bolts.

Description: About a foot long, two ring ends with a bullet connection in the middle. One side appears to be OEM wire and the other appears to have a new ring terminal.

Anybody have a clue about what this could be and where it should go? I can't think of anything that should be grounded that isn't.

How big are the rings? Could they go on the back of the indicator stalks as a ground?

All indicator grounds are accounted for.

Yes, very similar in size to those ring terminals, except this wire has them on both ends. I'll upload a pic later today.
As a clue to myself, it was in a bag with various frame bolts, such as the seat plate bolts, battery box bolts, and a few other misc. grommets and screws.

I'm probably overlooking something obvious here...

That confused me as well. I was convinced it had to be from the battery terminal to a ground somewhere, but I can't see anything I'm missing in the wiring diagram. I'm still waiting on a few connectors before I can start checking for ungrounded components.

The bikes are light on grounds, in my opinion. I like to add a ground from the ring terminal where the R/R is grounded at the starter solenoid bolt back to the battery, and then to the frame, usually at the front battery box bolt. The grounding of the battery box through the zing plated tubes in the rubber grommets goes bad with corrosion over time.

A lot of bikes are pretty flimsy when it comes to grounds - most will have the -ve from the battery to the engine and then rely on the engine mounts to complete the circuit back to the frame. On my KZ13 I ran an extra ground from the mounting point of the -ve lead at the engine back to the frame and it resolved a lot of issues.

Look see if is a ground wire (black/white) under one of the mounting bolts on the starter solenoid. THis would be the ground wire to the battery box that others have mentioned. Although that wire usally comes out of the main harness of the bike, but maybe someone made it direct to battery negitive by adding the connector and another piece of wire.

I was actually considering just using it to improve the redundancy of my grounds somewhere.

Can anyone list where there should be frame and engine grounds? I'd like to verify that I have them all. At least according to the wiring diagrams I do....

I do have the ground for the starter solenoids, this wire isn't long enough to go from solenoids to battery.

I have the R/R ground, the starter relay ground, the turn signal grounds, the solenoid ground, the engine ground, and the fuse ground. Perhaps this was just an extra ground someone added... but at least half of this wire is OEM for certain.

Well, if everything is working.... whatever that ground wire was for must have gotten replaced with some other wiring.
