    Electricity 1A

    Volts = Current(amps) * Resistance(ohms)

    Volts push current through the resistance R-Ohms
    Resistance resists the flow of current.
    Current is the hapless pawn between voltage (pressure) and ohms (resistance)

    If you open the tap wide ( close switch) on the garden hose water will flow.
    If you block the end with your thumb (open the switch) there will be no flow ( current ) and you will feel full line pressure ( voltage) at your thumb.
    If you now wind the tap almost shut ( high resistance, corroded plug) the flow ( current )is reduced to a dribble.
    If you again block it with your thumb ( open the switch) you will still feel full line pressure ( voltage)
    Voltage doesn't really tell a lot about the health of connections unless under load.

      Fun with analogy! ok, but you need a closed system ....a pump, a generator. and it follows that from the tap, that it must return to complete the loop. so this needs hose (wire). Maybe the "hydraulic" machine model is my favoured one....

      Though a river is kind of cool-boulders or canyons being Resistance... the Sun -> evaporation-> and a waterfall height providing voltage, the ocean is ground!

        If you like "Circuitous" explanations there is always this one.

          THAT is cool! Less cosmic but easier than me trying to bring umbrellas and clouds into my analogy

            Posplayr,

            If there's one thing I would never do is argue about electricity...I don't know Jack!

            It's good to know there's your stator papers here. I did a battery check with your help a while ago. Thanks for providing your knowledge and skill set to us all.

              Finally! Some electricity instruction I can understand!
