    alternator Kit for GS 1100 s

    Seen a alternator (Andrew Consorte ? If I remember his Name Correctly?) kit on Brad Mummerts drag bike. Also something similar on a dutch gs 1000 endurance racer. Anyone have one on they're Bike? Just wondering about one for a Bike of Mine. I have fried so many stators and regs over the Years its retarded. Hi Revs and abuse I guess? Anyhow a alternator maybe driven of the drive front sprocket may be quite trouble free? What you think Guys???

    Have you read about the benefits of a SERIES type R/R? Helps protect your stator from frying. A quality Rick's stator and Shindengen SH775 should provide many miles of trouble free riding.

      Not sure If I did this link correctly, but someone over at (OSS) has successfully mated a new starter clutch/rotor combo from a newer Suzuki to fit old 1100's.
      Sounds like there's a solution to both small and big taper rotors. It weighs half the stock system, with six rollers and has a superior SC engagement. Seems to allow shaving of the rotor cover for more ground clearance too. Who knows, it maybe easier on the charging system.

          Thanx a Lot Guys. I am guilty of severely abusing my Street Bike Engines. Ive had the tach pinned at 12,600 on my Modded GS 1000 more than a few times. Must of bought and also rewound myself a dozen stators at least! Also countless regs, They never were any good even when driving normally I found. I will look into these options THANX!!

                If you've got the money - and the contacts - as part of the factory WSB kit for the GSXR1000, Suzuki do a small diameter alternator.

                I've not seen one but they are about. I have two late GSXR1000 engines here at present that did have them fitted. For the use I'm rebuilding them for, that ultimate light crank isn't needed - so they were pulled before the engines got here.

                  Carter you're Link Worked fine and Thank you. That specific Modification appeared to NOT work that well? Thats what gamma boy said, cost prohibitive also with cylindrical grinding and heat treating costs .

                    My understanding also Mike. If it was viable then you would see a lot more of it on the OSS site!
                    1978 Gs1085 compliments of Popy Yosh, Bandit 1200 wheels and front end, VM33 Smoothbores, Yosh exhaust, braced frame, ported polished head :cool:

                    I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.
