    It's always something

Aftermarket headlight on my old GS, started blowing fuses every time I hit the bright light. Found out the headlight and 3 prong plug on it are too long for the depth of the headlight shell. Wires eventually rubbed enough on the back of the shell to wear a spot of insulation off and create a short. I cut the plug off and wired on 90* stakons.

    Seems like a good solution.
Just need to remember which one goes where. If get it wrong, no big problem, other than may get hi instead of low, or visa versa, or may get lower than low (both filaments in series).
