Hi. This question has probably been answered somewhere on this site, so my apologies in advance. I have 1979 Suzuki GS1000 chain drive bike. My starter clutch is in need of replacement. I have removed the flywheel bolt but need a flywheel puller . It looks like the bolt that came out of the flywheel is a 16mm bolt. Can I use a longer 16mm bolt, screwed into the existing hole to remove the flywheel? Or do I need a 35 or 38 mm puller for the larger threaded portion of the flywheel? or can either way work to remove the flywheel?

you need the puller that screws on the larger threaded hub..this has its own bolt to push on crank end. An impact wrench makes the job easier1981 gs650L

You can remove the rotor/flywheel using a long bolt. The swingarm bolt for example. If you search ebay for "GS1000 flywheel" and you will find lots of different puller options.Ed

I just did this and bought the tool. All you need is the cheap tool that is essentially a bolt.
See Ebay Amazon etc.
