Regulator choices

RR died and doesnt put out a charge on my 650 a while back and I finally had time to go through and check it out.
So far I've found the recommendation of the sh775 which are $60 for a clone and double for an OEM plus whatever is needed for a harness update. Also found a suzuki clone regulator from Caltric(good reviews) for $20.
Recently stuck a dyna ignition kit on it if that makes a difference, otherwise bike is pretty stock.

You can get a nice clean used SH775 for a reasonable price (I've got two that I'm about to test and resell). And you can use regular spade terminals and RTV in the cavity if you are too cheap to spring the $10 for a proper harness. You can pay now or pay later.

Please don't kid yourself, THERE IS NO CLONE.

There are several cheap Chinese knock-offs, but they only SORT OF look like an SH775. Electrically, they are not even close.

Your only choices, if you want an SH775, are from Polaris or Sea-Doo. Used is no problem. Look for dirty ones in the eBay pictures.

i would save myself the bother of looking and buy one from nessism, it will work and be reasonably priced, and you wont have to scour ebay and wonder if you have the genuine article.

Anything else is an inferior substitute.

I haven't tasted the SH775 Koolaid ....the old SH232s are pretty rugged. I haven't had a single failure of these on 7 bikes.

Consider yourself blessed! My SH-232 consumed two stators in its thirst for power.

Haha! So true. R/R failure is not the main charging system failure point, it's a burned out stator. And a shunt type R/R will put your stator at risk unless you have a series type R/R like a SH775 to protect it.

Before you buy ANYTHING, follow the advice in Nessism's signature.

To measure is to know.

Your R/R might be just fine, it just happened to kill the STATOR. When either one dies, you will have a "no charge" situation, but it's usually the stator that dies, not the R/R.

That being said, you should still get the SH775 R/R (along with a new stator) to prevent future issues.

You can purchase a proper wiring harness from any Triumph dealer for under $10. Go for it. That is after you have tried Steve's advice on finding the real cause of your problem.

Sea-Doo and Can Am seem to use the AA's. Functionally identical to the AB's as far as I can tell.

I've seen a single new SH775 for $100. $180 for 2 is a good deal.

SH775BA is the Polaris unit. Polaris part number 4012941.
SH775AA is the Seadoo unit. Part number 710001103.
