I deleted the starter on my 1978 gs550 and plugged the hole, now when I put everything back together and tried to kickstart like I usually do, the kickstart just goes all the way down if doesn?t crank or turn the engine over, what piece am I missing to the puzzle fellow expertises?

Did the kicker work before removing the starter? Maybe something was goofed with the kick starter all along... good luck.My Motorcycles:

Can you open the oil filler, get sight of the clutch basket and now push the kick down.
