Last fall when I got this bike started the button and switch was a little intermittent on working at first then started acting better as I started the bike more. One of the things I have done as of recent is take the switches apart to clean everything up and when I put the starter button back together I realized I didnt take pics or take note to exactly how it came apart. Theres a spring and a copper(or looks copper) "hat" and after putting it all back together I wasnt sure the button felt right when depressing it to start. Well today I made it to the point of getting the carbs and air boxes along with the battery back in and went to bump the starter as it's been on my mind that I may have a problem there and low and behold theres nothing like I thought might be the case. I didnt investigate to thoroughly and will get back on it in the morning but I suspect my assembly of that switch/button. I havent had any luck finding pics or drawings myself so thought I might ask here.

1100e starter button and switch
Does anyone have a detailed schematic or info on the internals of the starter button and run switch on the right side handle bars?

Before I take the starter button back apart I'm going through things in the wiring downstream of the switch. In this pic the right loop is from the clutch safety switch and the left is in the harness. This is the way it was upon my purchase....these 2 would go to each other to use the safety switch in the clutch correct? The way it is now should work as well shouldnt it? -

This is a picture of the 1981 GS750EX skill switch , but with modification for the anti- starter clutch kickback (blue jumper wire).
A far as I remember you need to take it apart use some chemical cleaner (e.g. DeOxit)and prep with dielectric grease.

Thank you for the feedback. Got it figured out, I had the spring and copper hat behind the plastic starter button in the wrong sequence. Works like a champ now... for electric connections I use ACF-50 and the stuff is amazing. I use it for keeping polished aluminum yet one of my bosses said he uses the stuff religiously on all the electronic connections in his Bush planes he owns so I started doing the same.Comment
