strange charging

    Just an update on my 82 gs1100gk
    readings
    key off 12.94
    key on 12.20
    Idle 13.6- 14.3
    4K rpms & 5K rpms the same 13.48
    After new stator and sh775
    key off 12.90
    key on 12.70
    idle 13.21
    4K rpm 13.9
    5K rpm 14.2
    I am a happy camper it is now charging like it should

      12.9 is high for a battery. You would usually only see this in the first few hours after charging.
      12.6 is the fully charged cold reading.
      How old is the battery in your meter?
      Typically they read high if the battery is old.

        I went out & threw the meter on my brand new scooter battery & it reads 12.9 cold & fully charged. Maybe it's my meter.

          Is the scooter lead/acid or agm? The agm tend to be a bit higher.

            the Battery is a couple months old and it is an AGM and it had been on the trickle charger

              Your 5k charging voltage is good. I'd call it done. No load voltage doesn't mean a whole lot unless it's low.

                  A typical wet-cell battery is 12.6 volts when fully charged.

                  A typical AGM battery is 12.8 volts when fully charged.

                  Your 12.9 reading is close enough, depending on how long it was from removing the battery from the charger to when you checked the voltage.
