Turn signal indicator light won't work
'82 650gl. Hi, title says most of it. I just tried replacing the bulb, and that's not the problem. The neutral indicator works, but I can't get signal indicator to. does anyone know of any resources or things I can try to fix it?1982 GS650GLTags: None -
If you used LED bulbs, pull it and flip it, may work the other way. I didn’t upgrade the signal indicator bulbs, but I did replace all tach and speedo bulbs with LED, they only work one way. Just a thought. If bulb is good, use a meter or test light, work backwards from the bulb socket til you find voltage that flashes with the flashing signal? Clean everything in the path.Links

The neutral indicator has nothing todo with the turn indicators. If you have two indicators (left and right),
it just so happens I posted a 650's circuit diagram SPECIFIC to the turn signal circuits.
Per OEM incandescent bulbs...
if you look closely, you'll see that the indicator bulbs goto ground through the non-blinking light's supply...example: pretend the switch of the diagram is slid to light green....follow light green through the indicator bulb, to the black and then through the unused signal's element to the signal's B/W ((Black with white stripe)wire....clever, eh?
If you have LED bulbs in the signals, your indicators won't work. the Polarity is wrong. (Incandescents don't care about polarity-electricty will pass either "way" through the element)
Anyways, that all shows how these aren't the same to trouble shoot as the neutral, oil or backlights. Clean the sockets or try a different bulb. If no go, Turn a signal on and Test for + voltage in its indicator socket . AND from the explanation, you can see the actual turn signal bulbs must also be good.
LED bulbs complicate and require changes .Last edited by Gorminrider; 10-02-2020, 07:12 PM.Comment
