1978 GS 750 petrol cap mystery

So just restoring the above and I notice the caps on these don’t have an air vent hole? I put some fuel into the tank and tipped it upside down and not a drop of fuel came out! Can’t see how fuel can flow freely without a vent?

Must have a vent of some sort, hidden under the lip.

Think you are right. After leaving the tank upside down for a while it did leak.
