1979 GS850, looking for oil pan replacement procedure

Looks like you can't remove oil pan without removing the motor completely. Anybody know the procedure for removal or if you can do without removing from the frame?

No need to remove the engine, just remove the exhaust.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

At worst, you may have to loosen the engine mounts to lift the engine a bit, but no need for total removal.

Be very careful with the exhaust header bolts. Spray them with PB Blaster for a few days before attempting to remove them. And when doing so, use a small handle 1/4" drive ratchet with socket, and don't force anything or the bolts will break off.
