Torque settings for chain renewal... gs550e

Help .... I am in a location without my manuals and notes. I have all I ever need but not here.
    1980 GS550e

I need to put on new chain and sprocks.
Anyone know the torque settings I need ?
    Front sprocket
    Rear sprocket nuts
Rear axle (think that is 50-80nm)

    And
Do you check chain play sat on bike or on center stand (my rd you have to sit on it to check play)

Sorry to ask all this as I have info just not here and can't find all on net.

I've always check the bike while on it's center stand. That way you can lube the chain, and check for any kinked links. Looking for around 3/4" inch play each way, midway through the chain.. New Chains stretch a wee bit, so don't over tighten it. That's how I've done it for 40 years, it doesn't mean I'm right though.

Do you mean on tightening the axle? There aren't torque settings for the chain. You look at the lines on the bottom of the axle and the scale on the swing arm to make sure the wheel is straight. I just tighten the H*ll out of the axle, and stick a cotter pin in their. You can feel when you've tightened it all the way.

            It's 36 to 68 ft. lbs.
