GS850G engine guards compatible with?
I recently bought a 1982 GS850G that is in fairly good shape. Over winter I'm slowly fixing things / cleaning things / replacing things (you guys know the drill by now!) but I keep looking for a set of engine guards and I'm coming up empty. I've been searching ebay for ones for a GS850G, GS1100G, and a GS1100GK....... are there engine guards from another model that would fit? Thanks in advance fellas.Tags: None -
There needs to be a thread for just crash bars, case savers, engine guards or whatever other names they go by. I picked up a few sets from tkent02 a few years ago. He didn't know what they fit. Rich, I believe I sent templates of two of those to you and they didn't fit your "T" correct?Burque73 was peddling a set in another thread. Not sure if he still has them or not.
I currently have three sets in my garage. One from a '79 850G, one on my '83 850G and a set on my 1100GK. I'm going to make templates of these three and that will cover at least 5, maybe 6 different models. Some of those, with a little modification, will work on even more GS model years. I've never had an "E" model come through my garage so we'll need other's to contribute if they're willing.
I sent two sets to 1978GS750E and Ron said neither fit what he needed them for. Maybe he'll chime in and help at least eliminate what they didn't fit. Maybe he sent them to somewhere they did actually fit. If so, what?
BTW, I hate to be thought of as a peddler, Rich. My bikes have perfectly good engines

That is correct. The "T" doesn't have the frame mount holes that the other 750 16v models of the same years have.
HAHA
. Noted. I love a good pun (or even a bad one), and that one was actually not intended. Good catch, Roger.

Actually, one set did fit on my '78 GS750E!
I think I was looking for a set for a '81 GS1100E at the time.
The other set I gave to someone on here. I cannot remember who I sent them to, but maybe they will chime in.Ron

First gen 850 was '79-'81. Suzuki changed things during that run, but "I think" any engine guards should be the same. The '80-'81 1000G engine guards should be the same as well.
Second gen 850 started in '82. Same year the 1100G came out. Those bikes were different from the earlier version. I don't know if the engine guards cross generations, but I doubt it.Ed

This is what is on my 1980 GS850GL. Just replaced my ignition cover with one that actually has a badge over the "homemade haircut" that was slapped on mine.
