    1983 gs1100 gk seat alternative

    Hi everyone,
I'm restoring a 1100gk into a 1100g and i am missing a seat so just wondering if there are any alternatives to the factory seat.

I already have a 1983 GS1100 and the seat works on the gk when i try it on but thought maybe there is a cheaper alternative before going and buying another Gs1100g seat from ebay as they are pretty expensive.

Also as an alternative, I'm thinking of maybe trying to fabricate a seat base using some thermal plastic ....

    Cheers

    Hey Paulf.
The seat from an '82 and later year 850 G will fit right on. I swap my '83 850G and '82 GK with no trouble.

      Thank you Burque73

I had a feeling that an 850 or a 1000 seat would fit. Found a few on ebay but shipping to Melbbourne Australia is so expensive...
Will keep an eye out and see how it goes.

      Cheers

I have an 82GK. The PO "shaved" the seat down to make it into a cafe racer. :/. Been looking high and low for an original seat with no luck. I know it'll be hard to find.

I ended up finding an 82 1100G seat on ebay for $30! Plan to use it as a donor seat to re-make the original. I have a friend who does upholstery and says he can do it. We'll see how that turns out.

You don't happen to have the GK seat do you? Or are you missing a seat all together?

Well, good luck on your hunt for a G-Seat. The one I found was in good condition, albeit the set foam was 42 years old and hard as a brick. I found it using a saved search on eBay with notifications.
