    GS1100G New petcock not sealing

    Hey gents,
Old petcock was weeping from around the tank and also through the bolts and also it was internally leaning, so I bought a brand new one from a Suzuki dealer(Came with new O-ring gasket).
Also bought the gaskets that go on the bolts.
Thought this should be pretty straight forward but even with the new part and the new gaskets , there is still weeping from around it and even through the bolts.
I did also torque as per specs.

Am my missing something here? Shouldn't it be just a quick replacement ? Or do i need to add some sort of a sealer on top of O-ring gasket

    Cheers

I used RectoSeal which is a pipe thread sealer for plumbing natural gas lines. Brushed it on gaskets and bolt threads. I had it around for plumbing stuff so I tried it. No leaks. It is worth a try.

I always use a smear of Hylomar around the seating position of the elongated o-ring and on the bolt sealing washers.

The stock washers are dowty seals.

Sounds like you need to do a careful inspection of the metal in and around the petcock. Make sure no lumpy sealer, or excess paint is fouling the petcock seal.

            Thanks for the replies.

Thing is i ordered the parts from the dealers part finder (part number: 09168-06023) so a bit surprised that the washers they sent didn't work. Also used a green scotch-brite to clean the surface before putting things back together.

Anyways, I will try some dowty washers and will clean up the surface a bit more thoroughly and will take it from there.
            Thanks again gents.
