    Front wheel bearing spacer orientation

I replaced the wheel bearings on my '80 GS1100E and started wondering if the orientation of the wheel bearing spacer matters. Does the flanged side of the spacer go on the speedo gear side or opposite it? I'm referring to spacer that goes between the bearings.
    Does it matter?

    Thanks

Thanks, I've seen that. Does the orientation matter though?

They are ususally pretty good about showing parts how they are supposed to be.

I see the flange on the speedo drive side.

Upon close examination I've found that the flange does not even touch the bearing or wheel when installed. I believe its purpose is simply to prevent the spacer from dropping into the wheel. I'll be leaving it "backwards"
