Advice on fork brace

I'm wanting to throw a fork brace on my 78 GS1000. Looks like a lot of people use the Tarozzi clip-ons but I thought I would throw it out there to the collective hive before I spent any money. I'll also post in the parts wanted section when I sort out what to get.

micron are the best braces, dont recommend telefix myself but others may disagree.

I've used a telefix for near thirty years on my GS1000, made a noticeable difference mostly on low speed sharp bumpy turns plus easy install.

I concur with Mr. salty_monk.



In fact, it was Mr. salty_monk himself who put together a deal where a bunch of us pitched in and bought about a dozen Tarozzi braces at the same time in order to get a better price. It's a good "bang for your buck" piece of gear.

because they have a reputation of locking the forks up and my mate died as a consequence of it

My 1000E and one of my 1000G's have a Telefix. The Skunk had it when I bought it, but I just installed it on the G. I had to slot the fender mounting holes quite a bit to lower the fender. There is still plenty of tire clearance, but it was a pain. One of my other 1000G's has a different brand that looks better, but I can't remember what it is.

The fender on a G is a pretty solid piece in itself. It must be adding some regidity on its own.

I'm imagining that if the bolts holding the two half's together slip a binding condition can occur. Not the safest failure mode.

micron are a good solid brace,2 fork clamps and a single solid ally plate joining them together. probably others around as well

Tarozzi braces are nice. Put one on my 1000 and it fit nicely.
