Samsonite rear footpeg 'bracket' picture needed

I could use a close up picture of the Samsonite luggage bracket located near the rear foot pegs which was used on the 1979-81 GS850/1000G's; as seen in this picture.

        Hey RB,

I saw the title and said that I would have some such pictures I could contribute.
But, Ah, I see you already have one of THE pictures I was going to send you.

        Dave

PS: That 850G is now dpeps. That picture was taken about 3 days before he rode the bike from here in western Michigan to his home in Florida by way of Iowa and West Virginia.

          Dave,

Between holding the triangle frame up to my '80 and that picture of yours, I had a good idea of how they should attach to the foot peg. I just needed a little more visual clarity.

thanks for getting me down the right path!

I've been jonesing after some Samsonite bags since I bought my '80 to balance out the windjammer. I bought these to attach to my existing rack.
http://thegsresources.com/_forum/sho...3&postcount=15 they're in VERY good shape!

          Life's good...

            Dave,

Would you have any pictures of how the turn signals look when relocated perhaps?

              your picture:

I see you got a good set. Including the lock pins and the keys, and the rain covers.
But not the brakets you are intrested in. THose were probably left on the bike.
Only thing better would be if the dividers are still useable inside.
And the plasitic is still dark color. Keep after that with 2 or 3 treatments of (whatever brand) of platci treatment, or they will turn light grey in a couple years.
But that all is not the point of this thread.

                Dale (right?)

I will look for photos, but for now ... from my memory ... ah.. not rembering much.

I think have to remove t/signal bracket to mount the rack and then suppose to have another completly different additional bracket that mounts under the licence plate bracket and that additional bracket has places to remount the t/signals. I dont see that bracket in your photo. IS probalby in same place as the other bracket you were asking about - still on the bike.

And mount the t/signals without that square thing.

Will look thru photos later this evening.

                Dave

                <<<later note:
Oh, and you will want to remove the grab bar from back of seat, on 80 - 81 anyway, or can not open/tilt up the seat at all for access to anything under the seat.

                .

                  Dale,

                  Yes.

Yes I found I do have have photos of t/signals mounted on lincence plate braket. ANd lots of other photos of the Samosite mounting.
PM me your email address and I can send you a few of the photos.

And, this addtional t/signal bracket doesnt mount under the license plate bracket, it mounts ON the licence plate bracket, under the licence plate.

And, beyound your interest, Dale. But if anybody else is intersted: I also have photos of returning everything back to stock. I did have all everthing to return it back to stock, and I did take off all the Samosoite stuff and return back to stock when I had it for sale. But Don "dpep" wanted all the Samsonite stuff, so I put it all back on for him.

                  Dave

                  <<< LATER NOTE:

THis bracket, the one in lower right.

And by looking at this photo, can see that the side brackets posed in your photo were reversed (on the wrong side). Minor point, probably would figure that out while installing them.

                  .

                    Dave, Yes it is Dale.

The inside of the Samsonite bags are in VERY nice condition for their age and the bags are still black outside. no graying that I can see.

the seat grab rail was already removed when I bought the bike almost three years ago, as there was a rack already on it. the bike came with all the removed items such as the headlight assy, turn signals, fork emblem, grab handle, seat rail, installation instructions for the windjammer, rack and radio when installed on day one and also came with a factory shop manual. all for the low, low price of $350. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...053#post842053

the headlight ring and fork emblem removed, reside on a certain 1980 GS1000G in South Africa and I can assure you they are enjoying the change of scenery (from a box). I have since bought nice replacements for those items just in case the next owner wants to return it back to stock. I can also assure you it will be after I'm long gone before someone gets the chance.

Dave, the seller included that little jewel of a bracket. I had no idea up until now what it was for. I've the steel to make those foot peg brackets out in he garage. might be what I'll do tomorrow.

Certainlyu is a nice 850G, especailly for the price.

Oh, yah, I remeber about the WInfjammer sent to Africa in cut up pieces to reduce shipping cost. That was an intersting story.
