    Shinko tires

    Hi I am looking to get a set of tires for my 1981 GS850GX I have found some SHINKO 230 Tourmaste anyone have any thing to say about them? also a local shop told me not to buy them off the internet he said there is a safety concern buying them off the internet they could be defective! is this a real concern or just trying to get me to buy his?

    good economy tires - I'm running them on my '81 1100E currently.

    No complaints, but then again I'm not a very aggressive rider compared to some...

      As long as you get them from a respected site you should be ok. I know a couple guys that run Shinko's on their "touring" sport bikes. I wouldn't be afraid to try them- just don't try to get a knee down in a bend.

        Thanks do you know any good web sites to look at? There is 2 that I have found that have a good price one is Cyclegear.com and bikebandit.com

            The 230's are V rated so they must have a decent casing. I put a set on my first 1000S and they seem to work well.

              I tend to buy my tires from www.denniskirk.com, but I'm not sure if they sell Shinko tires.

                If you buy a defective tire online ya have to pay to have it shipped to and from.
                Last two sets I've purchased I've done online with no issues.
                Luckily another set I bought locally I had issues with.
