    odometer roll back

    so after my dump i replaced my guages.. is there a way to roll back the odometer without cracking the glass?

    If you gently go around the bezel ring and pry the crimp up a little at a time and keep going around till its relatively uncrimped you can remove the front and use your finger to turn the dials to basically whatever you want it to read. Them reassemble and use something like the end of a socket extension and slowly go back around and recrimp the bezel ring. When recrimping set it on a towel folded several times as to not smash the bezel.

        Did you replace the gauges with ones that had mileage on them? If so, just record the difference and indicate that to the new owner if you are selling. Otherwise, why bother?

          Or you can find the thread about using a dremel to cut the plastic case in two. As for why?? Because he wants then guages after the wreck to reflect the true actual milage on the bikes engine and chassis. Theres nothing wrong with that.

            No, there is nothing wrong with that. Myself, I would probably not want to get into the clocks for fear of screwing them up down the line.

                Small flat tip..little prys and go all the way around and keep going around and increasing each pry little by little...be patient and go easy .

                      Did you get it set to the actual crash mileage? When you were in there did you clean the gears and add a little new grease?? Q Tip and some rubbing alcohol will clean the gears nicely.

                            I used this method on my tach to fix the needle. I would strongly consider this for my speedo b/c not showing the actual mileage on the replacement speedo would irritate the hell out of me. Chalk it up to a mild case of OCD.
