    Centre stand questions.

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the best section to post this question, but here goes. I've got a rough '78 gs 1000 project that didn't come with a centre stand. I'm wondering if there are stands from other bikes that will fit, particularly a 82 GS750E?

According to Alpha Sports cross reference chart, the following will fit.

Here are the models that the '78 1000 (E,C,N) center stand shares per Babbits online:

        GS1000C (1978)
        GS1000C (1979)
        GS1000EC (1978)
        GS1000EC (1979)
        GS1000EN (1978)
        GS1000EN (1979)
        GS1000N (1978)
        GS1000N (1979)
        GS1000S (1979)

Doesn't appear to relate to the '82 750 stand tho. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was just wondering if they could easily be modified to work, as in a bit of grinding or the addition of some spacers. I've got some photos and measurements for the 750 stand coming. I'll make an assessment when I get the photos.
          Thanks again.

            Hi,

Using the parts number cross-reference procedures HERE or HERE, if they have the same part number they will fit without modifications. Suzuki used many of the same parts across a number of different models.

            Thank you for your indulgence,

Rusty, if you could fire me a couple of measurements, that would be great. I know there's a few on e-bay for cheap, but the shipping is $tupid $$. If the 750 stand will work, I'm hoping to combine shipping with some other goodies that I'm buying.

Excellent! I'm in no hurry, whenever you get a chance is great. I have a feeling this "winter project" is going to take me a couple of winters.

Check e-bay, there are plenty of center-stands laying around for GS bikes.

I can't use the center-stand on my bike...exhaust is in the way.
I just removed my gas tank, installed an ATV winch in the roof and hooked her to the frame, and up-up awaaaayyy she goes!
