I'm wanting to relocate the choke cable on my '81 GS 850G. I bought a new left switch/turn signal control which has the choke lever underneath the housing. I know I'll need to fabricate a barrel that goes on the end of a GS 1100 cable to fit the carbs (or do something on that end to make it connect). If I'm able to make that part work, I'd love to do away with the unsightly nut popping out through the steering stem that the choke cable presently runs through.
The diagram in my Clymer manual shows a different steering stem set up than what I ha ve on my 850G, at least as far as the top nut/bolt is concerned. Is there an easy way to get rid of the nut and switch to the bolt set up since I wouldn't be running the choke cable through it any more? Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance for your response.
