Possible Carb problem.

So I have a 1980 550e and am trying to get it to start. I am so close. When I try and start it, it is so close, but then I found this hose going from the underside of the intake box and can't figure out where it goes or if it has to do with my issue. It seems to be spilling gas everywhere. Please any help. More pictures in the following posts.

First, you need to go to BassCliff's site and read up on how to post pictures on this site.
Second, thanks for the workout, the contortions it took to orient to vertical really helped work out the kinks in my neck.
Third, you should have 2 breather hoses on your CV carbs. Most likely that is what it is.
Fourth, if it is spilling gas everywhere you need to look at the petcock. If it is set to ON it is faulty. If it is set to PRI then move it to ON and try again.

Also if it is spilling gas your carbs are flooding out. What service has been done to the bike ? Have the carbs been cleaned PROPERLY, We need some history to be able to help you. Have you done any maintenance to the bike? The petcock could be faulty but if your needle and seats are working properly the carbs should not flood to the vent tubes, they should be able to stop the flow of gas when the bowls are full .

Hahaha yea I am a newbie to this whole fourm thing and am still trying to figure everything out, especially the posting of the pictures part. Thanks for the advice and help!

Yea I was sadly thinking the same that the floats are stuck. Thank you for the help!

Check your petcock for proper position. IE- (On - Reserve - Prime)

I suggest both are at fault. If it were my bike, I would resolve the petcock issue first. It is relatively easy to get to and you will have to pull the tank to get to the carbs anyway. Once that is resolved, then pull the carbs and clean the needle and seats. The purists will have you doing a complete carb rebuild immediately, but I prefer to get things working first, then do the rebuild.
