Using a chisel and smacking counterclockwise has only been successful in disfiguring the cap even more, not loosening anything. I have a replacement ready, from ebay for six bucks.

i seriously think you need to pull the cover off and have a look inside before you do some damage to the cover. there is no way that cap should put up that much of a fight.
maybe it has been sealed on with jb weld or some serious loctite?????1978 GS1085.
Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!Comment

I now see a part time hobby for myself in bonding oil caps with loctite.
Have Permatex will travel. These caps can be a bastard to remove without anything sealing them in place.
Its clear pliers of some sort were used the selected tool is what broke the thing.
Slot it then use a big assed screw driver.Last edited by Guest; 05-30-2013, 05:28 PM.Comment

Someone didn't like leaks, perhaps, and assembled the entire engine with JB Weld as a sealer.Comment
