    removing springs centrestand GS550

Has anyone found an easy way to remove the springs from the centrestand as the stand has to come off to be powdercoated?

You can pull it out of the bike frame with a pair of pliers then from the center stand itself. You may need to bend open the hook a little.

I just replaced it as they are still available and not that expensive.

While the bike is on the center stand the spring is stretched, wedge 7 or 8 flat washers or coins in the spring itself and when you take the bike off the stand the the spring will not be able to collapse.
You should be able to remove it. Same method for re-assembly.

          Take off one hinge bolt
Put in a screw driver or something smaller than the hinge bolt
Take off the other hinge bolt
The center stand will now angle towards the spring and it will come right off.
