Throttle grip does not return ?

    I have a new-to-me 1979 Suzuki gs850g.

(Never ridden it was a Christmas gift from my wife, needs battery and back tire to be ridden.)

I noticed the throttle grip does not return when twisted. I have no idea when the cable was last replaced or lubricated.

The grip looks like it could be original to the bike. Do throttle grips need to be lubed ? Should I pull the cable and lube it up ? replace the cable ?

    Thanks

Maintenance is calling- you did get/see Basscliff's welcome?

Does this bike have two throttle cables- one pulls throttle open. other pulls it closed? Lots of issues to confront, if you want a safe and reliable bike.

disconnect the cables from the carbs, then see how stiff the throttle is to turn. that will determine whether it is the cables and/or throttle sleeve or the carb linkage that requires attention.
either way, strip and clean and lubricate, unless the cables are kinked or frayed, in which case, replace them
