    How to determine exact model...

    Folks

    I have a 1978 GS1000 with a skunk tank and cast wheels - how exactly do I determine if it is a 1978 GS1000C or a 1978 GS1000E?

I ask because the parts fiche shows the wheels on my bike belonging to an E model, not a C...

Also, in shopping for an aftermarket exhaust system, Vance and Hines shows a listing for the GS1000E, not any earlier models...

    Here's my info...

    VIN: GS1000-507522
    Date Stamp: April 1978

    I appreciate your help!

As the 'ozebook' listing shows, it's a '78 EC, 'E' meaning cast wheels, 'C' denoting a '78 model year. A straight 'C' was the spoke wheel version (which came with lovely aluminum rims). Same model letter description differences also applied to the '78 550's, and 750's.
