Having completed just over 69,000 km I have commenced a major service which will be completed in parts as I still want to ride and enjoy the current great weather.
I have drained and refreshed the brake fluid as well as replaced the gear oil in the final drive and diff over the last week.
I will do the usual engine oil and filter replacement, new plugs and valve shim check. I'll also then check the engine compression.
The air filter is after market foam (oiled) around the standard Suzuki cage. I'm running OEM mufflers and was wondering if a K&N SU1200 is a worthwhile modification?
The carbs have only been off for cleaning once after a period of storage and apart from balancing have not been touched for over 40,000km.
I am thinking of removing the carbs and dipping and cleaning with new o rings from Robert Barr.
I would also replace the intake boots, O rings and seal and paint the airbox.
As the fuel lines and breathers are now 33 years old I will also replace all the rubber hoses. The petcock is only two years old so that's fine.
Any other suggestions while I have the carbs off?
