    Valve clearances 0.03--0.08mm for both inlet & exhaust, is that right ?
    EX are normally larger ????

    I think the normal philosophy around here is yes, 3-8 mm....for in and ex but its ok if the exhaust are a bit loose......but not required.
    Download a free manual for you bike on Bass cliffs site.
    The Suzuki manual is generally pretty clear on things.

      I'v got some EX at 0.14, would you leave those alone ?

        One size thicker shim would put you at 0.09 mm, which is just over top end of spec, but still very acceptable.

        0.14 mm probably OK, but will be noisy.

        Strange that clearance is so large, it usually gets smaller!

          Strange indeed- make sure camlobes are orientated correctly, so an adjacent lobe doesn't give a false hign clearance on the one you are measuring.

            I'm checking with the lobe facing forward on the EX at about 45 deg & the exact opposite for the IN.

              Not sure that I understand how you are expressing this. As an example to check #1 exhaust, its cam lobe should be pointing forward , this also lets you check #2 exhaust at same time since neither of these lobes is pressing against a shim; and neither lobe is trying to push up on camshaft and distort reading

                This procedure seems like you are measuring the clearance of only 1 valve at a time. As mentioned, this leads to improper position of cam lobes on adjacent cylinder, and could result in a larger reading.

                Follow the correct OEM procedure as given in link above, and re-measure clearances.
